Man in custody after chase around south Augusta

Richmond County Sheriff’s deputies have a man in custody after they say he led them on a chase around south Augusta on Friday afternoon.

Chavious Oliver, 19, had a grand jury arrest warrant and out-of-state warrants out on him, Capt. Scott Gay said. Undercover narcotics agents had set up a sting involving a drug sale to grab Oliver when he took off in his car on Wrightsboro Road, he said.

Road patrol took over the chase and captured him in the 1900 block of Third Street after 15 minutes.
